7 Resolutions For 2019

beauty & wellness mental health

Here we are. It’s 2019 and a new year has dawned upon us, once again eliciting ambitious feelings of self-improvement and betterment. Without going into sappy detail about why I fall hard into the “New Year, New Me” category, here are my Top 7 Resolutions for 2019, which I think may be relatable to many of you, along with some helpful resources to make the most of another lap around the sun.

1. Stop eating out so much.

I don’t know what it is but I love to consume food that is prepared for me. I do choose to eat healthily, but also know that it has become a bad (and expensive) habit to rely on the convenience of on-the-go eating as often as I am. My goal this year is to plan more nutritious and delicious meals at home for the whole family, and become more organized in stretching out leftovers. I’ve been loving these food containers and fridge organizers as they are an amazing solution for this goal.

When it comes to getting Hudson to eat more at home, Dinneractive plates make meals interactive and fun for kids. This digger themed 3-piece set has helped Hudson get more excited about meal time again, and even though he’s playing with his food, he’s definitely getting more bites in too. If he doesn’t finish, they’re easy to wrap up again for later. Use code mommamills10 at checkout here to take 10% off these plates!

2.Time blocking/ Time management.

Hudson is always my first priority, and lately it’s been a whirlwind trying to manage the adjustment of being home full time again with a busy toddler and working as an online entrepreneur, all while carrying out the daily chores and errands.

In order to get this done most efficiently, I’m committing to reading this book, entering daily notes and meetings to meet deadlines in my agenda, and consistently planning an editorial calendar on an office whiteboard. I’m also in the middle of creating a vision board to keep my career inspiration and goals in clear focus.

3. Home workouts

With time being more valuable than ever, it’s getting to a point where home work outs are the most efficient way to make physical activity happen consistently. If you’re feeling the same, I think you would enjoy this essential equipment along with a commitment to spending 15-30 minutes on sets/reps when an exercise class or gym workout isn’t feasible. My favourite must-haves are a good skipping rope, resistance bands, 15lb weights, and Sony wireless headphones (perfect for when you’re sharing home space with others).

4. Meditate regularly

When my anxiety or a life situation drives me into something unmanageable, I try to remember to utilize the Calm or Headspace apps for support. This year, I want to make a point of making this a daily practice instead of only a crisis management. Much like staying hydrated, if you’re already thirsty (or feeling the tendency to overthink), you’ve waited too long, and like working out, the benefits of meditation practice don’t pay off unless exercised regularly.

5. Stay on top of clutter and crumbs

We finally got a Dyson! And all the hype is legitimate. It really is the best cleaning technology I’ve ever used (and enjoy using!) Our V7 model is perfect for covering both our hardwood flooring and carpeted upstairs in one easy shot. I can’t believe how fast and efficient it is cleaning up (ALL*) the toddler crumbs! Click the photo below to see the various models and price points that you can shop from. Also, the clutter has become an issue in our household- odds and ends seemingly collect out of no where and there never seems to be a place for it all. We invested in these storage cubes and organizational dresser as a solution for clutter that serves a purpose but has no place. We also got these storage containers for Hudson’s toys and bath necessities. Also, don’t forget about a dedicated place for your mail and keys

6. Give skincare my undivided attention

I have just 4 more months to live in my 20’s, and the alarming truth for most of us is that we should have started investing knowledge and finances into skincare in our early 20’s to prevent permanent damage or lifelong texture/discolouration. Thankfully though, there are a number of treatments, serums, and procedures that we can adhere to to correct or prevent skin issues.

For the past few months I’ve been using the SkinCeuticals serum in preparation for a laser treatment called Fraxel I’ll be getting later this month. This procedure will correct the longstanding hyperpigmentation and melasma discolouration I have developed over the years.

7. Health is wealth!

The following is a complete list of my wellness supplements that I’m currently obsessed with. I’m a firm believer in the benefits that holistic medicine can provide in maintaining healthy bodily balance.

Blood Builder- For my low iron and alleviates fatigue that accompanies low iron storages.

Ashwagandha- for stress, anxiety and decreasing pain and inflammation.

Collagen- For stronger bones, and healthy hair, skin and nails.

B Calm- Maintaining B vitamins is crucial for mental functioning and keeping my anxiety reduced.

Prevail- I swear by this natural elixir anytime I feel the inklings of a cold or flu coming on. I did not get sick once this winter (knock on wood) and I swear that this stuff played a huge part in it because the rest of my house did and I was spared time and time again!

As always, thank you for following along and I wish you and your families all the health, happiness, and success for this year. I hope you found some of these links and bits of information helpful or inspiring!

Love always, Momma Mills
