Hudson Our Precious Pumpkin

Tomorrow is Halloween and it seems as though everyone has made their way to pick pumpkins and ramp up seasonal festivities. For us, the pumpkin patch holds a sentimental place in our hearts because we chose it as the location to announce we were expecting Hudson 3 years ago today.

This is our second year returning to the same location as a family, and creating these traditions truly benchmarks how much Hudson has grown and developed. It makes us so happy to see him thriving and coming into his own! At home he loves to ride bikes or hop in the wagon to get pulled to the store, so he was happy to jump in the wheelbarrow with the pumpkins on the farm. Daycare has grown on Hudson this year, and has proven to be an amazing resource to form friendships and develop a charismatic independence outside of home life. His budding personality continues to evolve into something more hilarious, loving and compassionate and it makes us so proud to be his parents. He truly brings out the best of both of us.

We spend so much time together, and yet I am still blown away every day at the notable changes in Hudson’s wit and ability to reiterate things he’s absorbed. His endearing reliance on us is a constant reminder of how important we are in his life, and to note the progression of things he’s learned is a reward unlike no other. Toddler life has also been a testing journey, though, as we continue to discover how to be the best (and most patient) parents we can, all while wiping up thrown bowls of cereal or tears from overtired tantrums. Despite the challenges and emotions of toddlerhood, the unconditional love and developing communication they give back always fills your heart, and to grow as a family into an uncompromising team is what life is all about.
