The Perfect Dress

When it starts to get warm out and work pants begin to feel impossibly restricting, I always take a minute to remember my slim pickings of last summer’s business-casual in the closet. I also think back to those sunny months that I was pregnant and running out of clothing options to feel comfortably cute for a day or evening out on a budget. Now, as a woman in my late 20’s, three qualities of clothing have become imperative deal-breakers in order for me to make a purchase. They are:
- Versatility
- Comfortability
- Complimentary
If these three things I like to call “The Big 3” match my style and the price point is reasonable-bingo. I’ll splurge a little if it’s a necessity or deserved. If I can find all of these attributes and affordability? That’s when I need to blog about it.
Going back to those pregnant days, I had very little luck finding maternity clothing that wasn’t weirdly unstylish or inexpensive. Every pregnant woman needs a solid few pairs of legitimate maternity jeans and pants, that’s for sure, but when it came to dressing up a bit, I wasn’t willing to spend $80-$100 on an outfit with a limited expiration date. I did some shopper analysis and capitalized on a specific stretchy fabric from Aritzia trademarked as “Raposa” and once you feel it, you’ll know why I consider it perfect. The clothing isn’t cheap but the composition of material allowed for a better overall investment of tops and dresses because the same size could be worn throughout my entire pregnancy and thereafter. A win-win!
The reason for this post is that I was ecstatic to come across a very similar composition of material at Joe Fresh. Dresses that met my “Big 3” criteria and were only $29 each so I bought one black and one grey. These breathable dresses are ideal for a warm day paired with sneakers or sandals and can be dressed up for work or a night out with some heels too. If you’re pregnant, mommas, this kind of dress is your best investment. Look at the tag and search for a balanced blend of either Rayon or Viscose with both Polyester and Spandex. While staying true to size or maybe going up one to be safe, you can wear this material now up until the last days of your third trimester. Why spend more on something awkward and expensive that you’ll only wear for a few months?
Until I get to that place in my life again, I’ll enjoy the beneficial stretch comforts and breathability of this material.
Another round of tacos por favor!
Love,
